Sugar, not dietary fat, is what's making America fat. It isn't just what sugar does to your blood, making you more hungry. French studies using mice have offered evidence that sugar is more addictive than cocaine. America is a very odd place to live. So many things that people get "up in arms" about, yet theres this incredibly destructive addiction in a huge number of people that never really gets discussed publicly.
If you tell a friend they're addicted to sugar, and that's why they yo-yo diet, and can't stop thinking about food all the time, you can end up with the nickname "nutrition nazi." They might say, "Oh, now that you're mr. high fiber, nutrient dense, super-food diet, you're just like an AA guy, or somebody who quits smoking and expects everybody else to quit too." But, whatever. In the end people will either wake up, or continue that sad Try-Fail cycle. My heart really breaks for them, but I can't kidnap them and feed them a helpful, healthy diet for a few months so they're body chemistry levels out, and they can think clearly, and live with strength and vitality.
One teaspoon of granulated white sugar is equal to about 4.2 grams. Try visualizing that while reading your next nutrition label. Do the math. Most kids are sent to school fueld by cereal ( 5 teaspoons of sugar) , milk (2 and 1/2 teaspoons of sugar.) If you poured that much sugar out on your desk you'd look like Pacino in Scarface. But I am very hopeful, that America won't be fat and last forever.
