Initiate all moves from the core, especially meal-time moves.
I'm so sick of the stupid little ads on facebook, and elsewhere that talk about "one weird old trick" or "the secret to abs you won't believe.
I've clicked on as many of them of them as I could stomach, and they eventually say the same thing after the big sales pitch. It's never anything more than lowering your levels of bodyfat, and exercising the core muscles a few times a week with consistency.
You might find it helpful to think of the core as made up of 5 sections: upper abs, lower abs, obliques, transverse abdominis, and the lower back muscles. It takes a variety of exercises to target each section. So fall in love with circuit training.
Remember: Consistency isn't the same thing as constantly. Over-training is just as ineffective as no training. And don't waste your time following a workout plan until you get your nutritional plan inline. Feed to succeed!!!
Also, if you want to look better in a swimsuit, that is nothing to be ashamed of. You might find that the people who accuse you of being vain and narcissitic, are just people that hate themselves and want to see you fail. They want you to fail so they can somehow feel better about themselves, and the sorry physical state they've created for themselves. Sometimes the best way to deal with this type of sad person is to just walk away. Or kick them. Anger is a step up the emotional scale from depression, so in a sense you're doing them a great service.
Ok, here's the big secret again:
Initiate all moves from the core, especially meal-time moves.
